MTN Science and Technology Scholarship
Initiated in 2010, the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS) supports 300 level students pursuing Science and Technology-related courses in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. This includes universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Each year, 300 students are selected for this scholarship, which continues until graduation, provided they meet the required academic standards. In 2024, the annual scholarship amount has been increased from N200,000 to N300,000.
Eligibility Criteria for MTN STS
- Level of Study: Open to students who have completed their second semester 200 level examinations and are progressing to 300 level, as well as those currently in their 300 level.
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):
- Students in public universities and colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper credit).
- Students in public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from their OND programme and must have secured admission into the HND programme.
- Direct entry level students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from their OND programme and must have secured admission into 300 level/3rd year in a public university.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students
The MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) was introduced in 2012 to assist blind students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. This scholarship is available to 200 and 300 level blind students studying any course. As of 2024, the number of scholarships awarded to blind students has increased from 60 to 100, with the annual scholarship amount rising from N200,000 to N300,000.
Eligibility Criteria for MTN SBS
- Level of Study: Open to 200 and 300 level blind students. For blind students studying law (a five-year course), only those in their 300 level can apply.
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):
- Blind students in universities or colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
- Blind students in public polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from their OND programme and must have secured admission into the HND programme.
Top 10 UTME Scholarship
Since 2020, the Top 10 UTME Scholarship has been awarded to the top 10 candidates of the UTME as announced by JAMB. These candidates receive scholarships from their 100 level through to graduation, provided they meet the required academic standards. In 2024, the annual scholarship amount for this category has also been increased from N200,000 to N300,000.
Eligibility Criteria for Top 10 UTME Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded irrespective of the successful candidates’ preferred course of study or tertiary institution, whether public or private, in Nigeria.
